Family, community mourn future farmer

QWAQWA-Mashaidi Samson Moloi has been left devastated by death of his son who had dreams of turning around the fortunes of his family.

Thabang  Moloi ,22,  is believed to have drowned after his body was retrieved from a local river by police divers  on Tuesday last week.This after his classmates had reported him missing . He was a third year student at Glen Agriculture College.

“Thabang was a progressive thinking boy, who want to build us a house in town where we can be able to easily access services like electricity and water.

“Sadly death had other plans. He had plans to relocate us to Bluegumbush,”  said  Moloi senior  as he wept.

Coincidentally, Moloi senior lost his wife in April 2020-the same month that his son Thabang passed on. As a result, he dreads the month and whenever it approaches he wonders who is going to be next to depart.

Passing condolences, Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Thembeni Nxangisa told the grieving family , death has robbed them of a hero who represented his family very well and had dreams to create jobs.

“We are saddened and our hearts are bleeding from loss of Thabang Moloi. We are in this sombre moment because we have lost a prospective leader of the country. A great farmer of the country as we saw him grow and become part of Glen college. We could see that burning aspiration to be  a great farmer was going to become a reality very soon.

“It is particularly painful for a parent to bury their offspring . We will encourage other students who are left behind to continue the dream. We want to build black commercial farmers. We want to level plying field. We want to build a country where everyone benefits from the wealth. In Thabang  we saw that dedication. We know it is God’s will and can only pray him to give us strength,” Nxangisa said.

The acting principal of Glen College , Nongiwe Mngwambe dscribed Thabang as a disciplined student who never had a brush with the laws of the college.

“We had hoped to see him grow into a better man and make a change into the country. As the staff of Glen college we can feel your pain and we are here to support you.”

Also in the entourage of the MEC was Moruti Serei Mafojane who prayed for the family and asked God to give them strength during this difficult time.  

Moloi will be buried at Naledi  Mokodumela ,  in QwaQwa this coming Saturday.
