BLOEMFONTEIN – Free State police have intensified the hunt for alleged serial rapist and conspiracy to commit murder suspect, Lloyd Mcdonald Siswe Jacobs (32), who is accused of using fake social media profiles to lure, drug and sexually assault unsuspecting women.
Jacobs, of Navalsig Muirfield Flats in North End Street, is also wanted by Parkweg SAPS in connection with a separate conspiracy to commit murder case after allegedly threatening to kill an investigating officer.
Police say the fugitive operated under several false identities on Facebook and other social media platforms to target women before allegedly attacking them.
Free State police spokesperson Thabo Covane said one of the latest incidents occurred on Sunday, 11 May 2025, when a 35-year old woman allegedly met the suspect, who introduced himself on Facebook as “Shane Carson”.
“The suspect invited the victim to his residence for what was supposed to be a first date. Upon arrival, he allegedly served her juice which caused her to become severely disoriented and physically weak,” said Covane.
Police allege Jacobs then forced the woman into a bathroom where he raped her.
“The victim managed to escape after convincing the suspect to allow her outside for fresh air,” Covane added.
Police have warned the public to exercise extreme caution when interacting with strangers on social media platforms. Authorities believe more victims could still come forward.
Anyone with information about Jacobs’ whereabouts, or who may have fallen victim to him, is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Richard Dlanga of the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Investigation unit on 071 099 1466, Colonel Ben Bolsiek on 082 466 8530, the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111, or submit anonymous information through the MySAPSApp.
“Do not attempt to confront the suspect yourself, as he is considered dangerous. All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality,” Covane warned.
