BLOEMFONTEIN – At just 11 years old, Khwezi Mazibuko is already proving that passion, perseverance, and a mother’s unwavering love can turn dreams into reality.
A young star, who hails from Mafube Municipality and now lives in Mpumalanga, has captured hearts through her incredible talent in acrobatic dance, earning a place to represent Team South Africa at the World Dance Competition in Disney World, Florida, in July 2026.
Khwezi’s journey to this global stage began when she was only seven. Since then, she has collected medals and trophies, standing out for her energy, discipline, and grace. Outside the studio, she shines just as brightly, excelling in hockey, netball, and tennis, and inspiring her peers with her determination.
Her mother, Nomsa Tshabalala, has been her guiding light through it all. Raising Khwezi alone after losing her husband when Khwezi was just three, Tshabalala has worked tirelessly to nurture her daughter’s dreams.

However, this dream comes with financial hurdles. The family needs about R85 000 to cover travel, accommodation, and competition expenses. So far, Tshabalala has raised R1 600 through her own efforts, posting appeals around town, writing sponsorship letters, and reaching out for community support.
“This is a great opportunity for my daughter, and I hope someone comes to our aid so that she can realize her dream of performing on the world’s biggest stage,” she added.
