QWAQWA – South African Police Service in Phuthaditjhaba are investigating a murder case following the discovery of the body of a 22-year-old woman in a donga at Clubview Village on Sunday, 15 February, a day after Valentine’s Day.

The deceased has been identified as Busisiwe Mofokeng from Matsikeng. She was positively identified by her family.

According to reports, she sustained fatal open wounds to the head, eye and knee.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the body was discovered by a shepherd who was tending to his cattle in the area.

“Mophiring explained that the shepherd became suspicious after noticing bloodstains along a footpath, which led him to a nearby donga where he found the body.

He immediately alerted nearby residents, who assisted in notifying the police. The deceased was later positively identified by a family member, and no arrests have been made so far,” Mophiring said.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Busisiwe was last seen on Saturday, 14 February 2026, in the company of her boyfriend.

Police have appealed to anyone with information that may assist in the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects to contact Detective Captain Motseki on 079 887 6961 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Investigations are ongoing.
