VREDE – Free State police have made a breakthrough in the case of the murder of a police officer Constable Itumeleng Tladi, who was stationed at the Crime Intelligence Unit in Vrede.
The Hawks spokesperson, Captain Christopher Singo, said the concerted efforts by Crime Intelligence conducted by the Special Organised Crime and Investigation (Hawks) in Bethlehem continue to produce the desired results as they arrested the suspects on October 22.
Constable Tladi (26) died from a gunshot wound in the head. His lifeless body was found lying on the side of the road on a farm near Vrede on Friday, October 22. His personal vehicle was also found abandoned a few kilometres away from where his body was discovered.
The two suspects, Makhosazana Falicity Mfuphi, 30 and Sinethemba Klaas, 28, appeared before the Vrede Magistrate Court on murder and robbery charges on Monday last week.
The killing of Tladi came after another police Constable from Petsana Reitz, was murdered by her boyfriend in August.
The two suspects are due to appear in court again on November 10 for bail application.
