TRAVELLERS ARRESTED FOR CONTRAVENING LOCKDOWN REGULATIONS

HARRISMITH –  The  visibility of Police, traffic officers and  South Africa  National Defence Force  (SANDF)  at N3 and N5 routes  near  Harrismith, saw the arrest of many people for various crimes  at the road blocks last Friday.

Three people were  arrested on the road block upon search by police, they were found in possession of  new pair of shoes worth R8000 which they failed to account for, by providing  receipts as a proof of purchase.

The suspects  were on   their way from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal. They are expected to appear before Harrismith  magistrate court soon on charges of suspected stolen goods.

While  adjusted  Disaster management act level 4 lockdown  has been relaxed last Sunday, for some who were travelling  from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal last  Friday  without  permits , they still have questions to answer in court. They are now facing charges of contravening lock down regulations.  After failing to provide permits to police that allow them to travel from Gauteng province to KwaZulu-Natal.
