New principal an embodiment of a father figure

QWAQWA – The inauguration of Motlalepula Tsotetsi as the new principal of Maluti TVET College was a celebration of leadership, perseverance, and familial support.

Held at the Kwetlisong campus on January 10, 2025, the event marked a pivotal moment for the institution as it embraced its third principal since its establishment.

The atmosphere was vibrant with dignitaries, students, and local community representatives in attendance. The event was highlighted by heartfelt speeches that painted Tsotetsi as more than just a leader, but as a father figure, a mentor, and a source of inspiration to those under his stewardship.

Speaking on behalf of the Student Representative Council (SRC), President Faith Mooko eloquently captured the essence of Tsotetsi’s leadership.

“A father symbolizes authority, protection, provision, and wisdom. Across cultures, fathers are seen as role models and mentors. Today, I proudly stand here to say that Mr. Tsotetsi embodies all these qualities. Under his leadership, we, the students, shine brighter, and he can proudly declare, ‘These are my children,’” Mooko expressed passionately to the gathered audience.

Central to the event was the presence of Tsotetsi’s wife, Puleng, and their children, Nthabiseng and Bohlokoa, whose unwavering support throughout his journey was evident. Puleng Tsotetsi, radiating pride, reflected on the milestone moment in an interview with The Guard.

“This inauguration is the culmination of a long journey filled with hard work and perseverance. My husband’s commitment to the college and its students has always been unwavering. Today, I stand here, proud of all that he has achieved,” she said.

Their eldest daughter, Nthabiseng, echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the challenges and triumphs that paved the way for her father’s success. “Every achievement comes with its own hurdles, but through resilience and determination, our father has reached this incredible milestone. We are incredibly proud of him,” she shared.

The importance of family in enabling professional success was emphasized by the chairperson of the Maluti TVET college council Dr. Raymond Patel, who said the following:

“Behind every successful man is a strong woman and a supportive family. Leadership is not an individual journey, it is a collective effort, where family plays a critical role. Today, we celebrate not just Mr. Tsotetsi, but also the family that has stood by him through every challenge,” Patel remarked.

For his part, Principal Motlalepula Tsotetsi expressed profound gratitude to his family for their unwavering support.

“Peace and harmony within the family are the foundation for professional success. My family has been my pillar of strength, providing the rest and encouragement I needed to excel. Despite late nights and numerous commitments, they’ve always been there for me, and for that, I am forever grateful,” he said.

The inauguration was graced by several dignitaries, including representatives from district and local municipalities, Ernest Moloi from the Bakholokoe royal household, Francis Mahlangu, Principal of Goldfields TVET College, and Tsotetsi’s younger brother, Thabo Tsotetsi.

The event was more than a formal ceremony; it was a celebration of shared values, resilience, and the power of community in driving institutional success. As Maluti TVET College embarks on this new chapter under Tsotetsi’s leadership, the institution is poised to achieve new heights, supported by the foundation of strong leadership and unity.

The future looks bright for Maluti TVET College as it welcomes a leader who embodies the values of mentorship, perseverance, and family support a true father figure in every sense.
