QWAQWA – The Sifiso EdTech Coding and Robotics Teacher of the Year Award, which recognizes educators at the forefront of preparing students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), has honoured Letlaka Mphuthi with this prestigious accolade.

Mphuthi, a full-time teacher of coding and robotics for learners from Grade R to Grade 7 at The Sentinel Primary School, was selected from over 70 teachers excelling in these fields. He was announced as the ultimate winner on October 5, 2024.

“Since joining the school, we have achieved 27 awards, including three national coding and robotics awards, as well as an international award at the Eskom International Science Expo. Despite having introduced coding and robotics only 10 months ago, we managed to outperform some of the best schools in South Africa. I am incredibly happy and grateful for this recognition,” Mphuthi told this publication.

The school’s principal, Jon Moloi, expressed his pride in the achievement.”I am incredibly proud of our success in integrating coding, robotics, and 4IR technologies into our curriculum. This initiative has transformed our teaching and learning methods, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment.

“It has also enhanced our learners’ problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and logical reasoning. We, as a school, are grateful for Mr. Mphuthi’s outstanding work, and we congratulate him on being named the best Coding and Robotics Teacher of the Year,” Moloi stated.
