QWAQWA – Mohato Secondary School rolled out a red carpet for its matric class of 2025, motivating the learners who have been working hard throughout the year with inspiring messages from educators, leaders, and peers ahead of the final NSC examinations.

Mohato Secondary School in Monontsha hosted the red-carpet event on Thursday, 2 October, to inspire and motivate its matric class of 2025 as they prepare for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, which begin on 21 October 2025.

Learners proudly walked the red carpet wearing their matric sweaters and school uniforms, cheered on by parents, teachers, and fellow classmates. The event was organised by the school principal and educators to encourage the matrics ahead of their final examinations.

Principal Lekhetho Mosikatsana, affectionately known as Chief by the learners, said the school had done all it could to prepare the class. “As educators we have done everything that we can for the learners. Now it’s their turn to work hard, to make sure that they do well in their matric exams and walk into a bright future prepared to succeed,” he said.

Guest speaker Doctor Ledimo, an accounting teacher from Sekgutlong High School, urged learners to use their circumstances as motivation rather than an excuse.

“Your poor background is not an excuse not to succeed. Don’t say you wanted to become a doctor but because you were poor you didn’t. Rather inspire others by saying I became a doctor despite being poor,” he said during his keynote address.

The matrics themselves also shared words of encouragement. RCL president Tshepang Masia compared preparation to keeping a car running.

“You cannot drive a car without petrol or water. In the same way, we must prepare well now for our finals so that we can succeed,” he said.

Fellow RCL member Mantwa Miya echoed the importance of unity and determination. “Our teachers have done their best. Now it is up to us. Together we stand, divided we fall. We will do well to prove to Chief and our teachers that Mohato e hatela pele,” she declared.

The red-carpet celebration left learners motivated and determined as they enter their final weeks of preparation. With just days to go until the NSC examinations begin, Mohato Secondary’s class of 2025 has pledged to rise to the challenge and make their school proud.
