QWAQWA – Proud graduates Likeledi Sello and Nthabiseng Motete who received their N6 certificates for Marketing Management expressed how honoured and proud they feel to be attending their graduation ceremony and are looking forward to a bright future.
Graduation day is a testament to years of hard work, resilience, and determination. In an interview with The Guard MalutiTVET college graduates said that they do not fear the future because they feel well equipped because of the experience that they gained through the college’s work placement and practical aspect of their higher education. Sello and Motete who both work in Bethlehem at a wholesale outlet shared the same sentiments when they said that they are looking forward to a bright future. They said this during an interview with this publication at the MalutiTVET college’s graduation ceremony that was held at the Bluegumbosch Multipurpose Hall on 28 August.
Sello, who majored in Marketing Management said that she hopes to start her own business one day and be a successful businesswoman. “Today is a very special day for me because I am finally graduating. I love the experience that I am gaining at the wholesale store that I am doing my work experience at because I am learning a lot. One day I hope to run a very successful business,” Sello said in an interview with The Guard.

Similarly, Motete said that she is learning a lot form her work experience and hopes that her future has only the best in store for her. “My parents instilled in me the importance of education and I feel very happy that my mother is here with me today. I am very happy and proud of myself for graduating and hope that my future is bright because I feel confident in the skills I learnt at the college,” Motete said.
“I am very proud of my daughter, today is a very special day because it is a sign that Likeledi has worked hard and achieved success. So, I am very happy to be here today to support my daughter,” Sello’s mother Matshepo Tau said.
Acclaimed television star John Morapama who was at the graduation to motivate and inspire the graduates said that that parents play a very pivotal role in the success of students but graduates must also learn from their white counterparts and learn to use money wisely.
“Today we are paying tribute to those people who play ‘mochina’ to be able to put some of you through school. You who come from families where there is no mother, there is no father, and you were raised by your gogo. I want you to make sure that deep in your heart you pay tribute to those people who are behind you, who followed you and made you who you are today. When a black boy child graduates and soon thereafter gets a tender he immediately buys a flashy car and in our township, we hear tires spinning and burning tyres, our students must learn to do things differently and teach themselves about financial literacy,” Morapama said while addressing the packed hall.

MalutiTVET college principal Motlalepula Tsotetsi said that this graduation ceremony is a send-off of the ambassadors of MalutiTVET college, and that the nation needs their skills and knowledge to be a better country. Tsotesi made the following remarks when addressing the crowd.
“As a gesture of the college being happy with your performance, we have brought Mr Morapama to motivate and inspire you because he is a well-known and highly esteemed public figure and a strategic partner of the college. We therefore say sit back, relax and enjoy this day of celebration and that God bless you, your parents and your guardians.”
