QWAQWA – Finance, tourism and economic development MEC Ketso Makume has warned illegal occupants of the Free State Development Corporation (FDC) building to stop the practice or face the law.
“Those who illegal occupy FDC buildings are committing a crime and will be treated as criminals before the law. Everyone who has hijacked an FDC building should know that we are going to close them down.
“There is no contractual obligation or anything that happens at that building will be the responsibility of the FDC and the department. We really need to assure you that we are aware of hijacked buildings, they might not be many like other provinces.

“The reason why you see the entire staff of FDC here, among other things, is to visit these people and tell them, ‘look, we know that you are illegally occupying this space, so we are asking you to get out’. That is what we are going to do moving forward,” Makume warned.
He also expressed disappointment that some of the factory shells were being used as accommodation facilities or residential places.
“We came here with members of the police to make sure that those who do not comply are taken out.
