BLOEMFONTEIN – The Free State spokesperson of Free State African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) Sello Pieterson, says they will not prevent people from protesting in support of Ace Magashule even though they respect resolution made in 2017 conference.
Pieterson was commenting on the current situation where speculation is high that there are some members of ANC who are planning to protest in support of ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule who has been asked to step aside after 30 days.
He says the youth in the province remain disciplined and respect resolutions taken during the national conference in 2017.
His remarks come amid indications that supporters of Magashule are planning a national shut down targeting key points in the country.
“Members of the ANC in their own right have their own thinking in terms of what it is that they want to do. If members of the ANC at large decide that they want to march in support of the SG, the Youth League can never stand against that because the SG was elected by the conference” he adds.
He said if there are comrades who feel that the SG must be supported, for whatever reason, the youth league will never be opposed to that.
“We can never stop our members in their individual capacity to go and form part of the march, or to support the SG or any leader of the ANC,” added Pietersen.
