QWAQWA- A 33-year old man who delivered a parcel containing live ammunition to Maluti-a-Phofung executive mayor Masetjhaba Lakaje Mosia and municipal manager Tseko Mothamaha , was released on bail of R1000 by the Phuthaditjhaba magistrate on Tuesday July 27.
His first court appearance was on Friday July 23.
Mandla Patrick Sibiya from Modderfontein, East Rand, who is facing charges of illegal possession of ammunition, will be back in court on August 27.
According to media reports, Sibiya arrived at Maluti-a-Phofung local municipality offices in the eastern Free State on July 20 where he delivered parcels for executive mayor Lakaje-Mosia and Municipal Manager Mothamaha.
When municipal officials opened the gift after receiving the parcels, 9mm pistol bullets fell to the ground. Shocked at the frightening gift, they screamed for help while the suspect attempted to escape using the stairs. He was, however, apprehended by security officers before he could go far.
Details of the sender of the gift or the person who had sent him are still sketchy.
