QWAQWA- Unreliable electricity supply in Maluti-A-phofung local municipality undermines provincial government efforts to attract potential investors despite the area having more to offer with special economic zone found in the area.
This was revealed by Premier of Free State Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae during her visit in Qwaqwa on December 28,2024.
“The issue of electricity contributes to crime . We are also unable to get potential investors because they complain about this area’s unreliable electricity supply. ”
We are unable to bring investors”.She disclosed that the minister of electricity will visit the area to assist in stabilizing the electricity supply.
“We have already asked minister of electricity Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa to intervene and will be coming here when we open from festive holidays so that we can be able to open the factories because potential investors say they are unable to open those factories without stable electricity supply.

If we can create jobs crime will also decrease . We are working hard to fix the issue of electricity because it also affects the water supply. They are our main top priority. You will see between February and March Ntate Ramokgopa’s first visit will be here.
We want investors to come here because we have a special economic zone. We have already met some investors from United States of America (USA) and China who are prepared to assist us . ” Letsoha-Mathae said.
