Awards honour extraordinary people

QWAQWA – The Alinah Mazibuko Foundation (AMF), a local non-profit organization committed to empowering people of all ages in Thabo Mofutsanyane district, has hailed its fourth award of the year from TMDM, as a milestone celebrated with heartfelt gratitude.

“As a foundation, we are truly honoured to receive this recognition. This is a dream come true, a reflection of the hard work we put into changing lives every day. The greatest award is the appreciation of the people, and we are humbled by this acknowledgment,” Alinah Mazibuko said in interview with The Guard newspaper.

Mazibuko also took a moment to reflect on her personal journey and the growth she has witnessed in her community. “From the bottom of my heart, I’m grateful to see not only my own development but also the progress of the community at large,” she said.

The awards ceremony was an inspiring reminder of the incredible work being done by ordinary individuals with extraordinary commitment. Guest speakers and those in attendance expressed hope that the initiative would continue to grow, encouraging more organizations and individuals to dedicate themselves to community service.

The TMDM has positioned itself as a leader in celebrating the unsung heroesThe District Municipality hosted its annual awards ceremony, honouring individuals and organizations dedicated to serving their communities.

The event, themed Extraordinary Day for Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things was held on December 5 at the TMDM council chambers, and it highlighted the inspiring efforts of those who go above and beyond to uplift others.

Speaking at the event, TMDM executive mayor Conny Msibi reflected on the importance of celebrating those who selflessly serve the community.

“This initiative is about recognizing the heart of our district people and organizations who have made it their mission to help others. These awards are not just an acknowledgment but a reminder of the power of kindness and community,” Msibi said.

This year marked the third instalment of the awards. Members of the public nominated candidates in various categories, with additional Mayor’s Special awards selected by the Executive Mayor to honour exceptional contributions.

As the ceremony concluded, attendees were reminded of the words of Gopi Sundar: “The greatest award is the appreciation of the people.” Indeed, TMDM’s awards have become a testament to this truth, shining a spotlight on those who make the extraordinary possible.
