QWAQWA-Eighteen-year old Motebang Justice Keele of Phamong village has always harboured dreams to pursue a career in pharmaceuticals after completing his matric.
Everything seemed to be falling into place until the reality dawned upon him, that he had to travel to Cape Town; now this was a challenge he had conquer.
He is part of the matric class of 2022 at Tlhorong Secondary school in Bolata village where managed to score five distinctions in Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Geography and Sesotho. He got a bursary opportunity to study pharmacology at a university in Cape Town.
His unemployed father, Tsolo Keele, said “We went to ask for assistance at the QwaQwa United Taxi Association (Qwauta) offices, so my child could pursue his dream.”
He said they were desperately in need of R5000 to cover his son’s transport fare and other incidental expenses that would help him settle into his new surroundings.
Thanks to Qwauta’s generosity, his son will be able to follow his dreams.
“I would like to thank Qwauta for opening its hand to us in our time of need. The boy will now proceed to the University of Western Cape (UWC) to study pharmacology,” said an evidently relieved Keele.
Qwauta chairperson, Matshediso Nteo, said after receiving a request to intervene in the child’s plight, they felt duty-bound to play their social responsibility role and help.
“We might be in business, but we are committed to a bright future for our children; we want to see them succeed in life,” said Nteo.
An elated Motebang expressed his gratitude to Qwauta’s management and promised not to disappoint.
“After completing my studies, I will ensure that I help my parents live a better life,” he said.
