TWEELING – With Free state schools having reopened on Wednesday for 2022 academic year, Premier Sisi Ntombela visited Refeng Thabo secondary school in Mafahlaneng Tweeling on Thursday  as part of campaign to assess the state of readiness amid Omicron outbreak.

Ntombela was accompanied by Mafube local municipality executive mayor, Tlhoare Motsoeneng .

She also took a guided tour of the school hall that is under construction and was full of praise of this progress.

Once complete, the hall will be able to accommodate a 1000 people. It is expected to be opened before the end of this financial year.

Ntombela told The Guard that construction of the hall created about 50 job opportunities. This is in line with the provincial government’s commitment to the schools in 2019.

“Ours today was simply to observe the schools state of readiness for calendar year and encourage those who still anxious about Covid-19 to soldier on,” Ntombela said.

She  also commended the school’s  principal, teachers and pupils ‘role in the successes of the school.

“I am indeed pleased to see that the principal has rallied his troops and both the  teachers and learners are ready for the year ahead. My wish to all our learners, particularly those in grade 12 is to adopt the same kind of attitude which will in the long term ensure brighter future.”

Motsoeneng echoed the Premier’s sentiments as he encouraged government stakeholders to support each other.

“We must regard one another as government entities in our bid to address challenges facing  our communities so that we can reach lasting solutions, ”Motsoeneng said.
