Taking services to the people

QWAQWA – The Department of Employment and Labour is taking its services to the people through a ‘mall activation campaign’.

Regional manager Teboho Mohodi says that the Department of Employment and Labour together with the Compensation Fund want people who are busy at work during the week to get the opportunity to access their services through this ‘mall activation campaign’.

“The services we are offering the community are compensation fund claims and enquiries as well as being able to make Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) claims, registrations and enquiries,” Mohodi said.

People can come to the mall and get assistance that may lead to a pay-out right on the spot.

Community members must have the necessary documents at hand which are an ID card or book, and all the necessary forms both UIF and Compensation Fund. On October 9, the campaign was held at the Maluti Crescent mall and will be at the following malls on the dates outlined in the table below:

People get injured at work or lose their job and don’t know how to fill out the necessary paperwork correctly in order to make a claim to the compensation fund or UIF respectively. “Therefore the aim of this campaign is to have a one stop shop, where our clients can get the right assistance,” Mohodi said. The department of Employment and labour’s regional office is in Bethlehem but they also have an office in Phuthaditjhaba, the corner of Lieta and Moropotsane Street.
