QWAQWA – In celebration of Women’s Day, Tlalane Mofolo (30), the co-owner of Thabana-Tsoana Tourism, will be joined by fellow women on August 8 to enjoy a light hike with scenic mountain views as well as a braai, at ‘Lehaha la Basotho’ (Basotho Cave).

Mofolo, co- owner, of the beautiful tourist site, has invited other women to join her for a light hike on a scenic route that leads to the Basotho Cave where they will enjoy a braai and a debriefing session.

“I came up with this idea for us woman to come together and debrief, to escape from our problems and stress, by spending some time embracing nature,” says Mofolo.

She says Thabana-Tsoana Tourism offers a range of outdoor accommodation, dinning and adventure activities that ensure a great Basotho cultural experience. Situated in the heart of the Maluti/Drakensberg Mountains, it is perfect for short or lengthy hiking trails, horse riding routes, 4×4 adventure trails and quad biking.

Since the beginning of 2020 the world woke up to a new virus – Covid-19 – that has unleased unprecedented terror on the world and condemned society into an era of a global pandemic. Tourism has been hard hit and most economic activities have been badly affected, while many people feel challenged and stressed out.

Mofolo says with all this chaos happening in communities, the best way to destress and forget about all of the problems is by spending quality time in nature.

This year’s Women’s Month is celebrated under the theme: “Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights for an Equal Future”.  The concept of Generation Equality is a global campaign and links South Africa to global efforts to achieve gender equality by 2030.

Women’s Month is a tribute not only to the thousands of women who marched on that day in 1956, but also a tribute to the pioneers of the women’s movement in this country, dating back to 1913, when women like Charlotte Maxeke led the way in establishing the ANC Women’s League and encouraging women to engage in the struggle for freedom. Pioneers include Cissy Jaynab and Amina Gool, who were among the leaders of the National Liberation League and the Non-European United Front of the 1930s.
