BETHLEHEM — Dihlabeng Local Municipality has this week handed over new service delivery vehicles to improve response times and address ongoing service challenges.

Executive Mayor Cllr Tseki Tseki handed over a cherry picker truck, a waste compactor truck, and a 10-ton sewerage truck, all purchased using internal funds. The vehicles were presented to the Fouriesburg Unit Manager and the Director of Technical Services.

The cherry picker is expected to be operational from soon. Municipal Communication Manager Tshediso Maitse stated that the move is aimed at improving efficiency.

“The procurement of these vehicles is aimed at strengthening the municipality’s ability to deliver reliable and timely services, particularly in communities that have experienced disruptions,” said Maitse.

He said the municipality remains committed to improving infrastructure and speeding up service delivery.

Speaking at the handover, Tseki said the vehicles will help address persistent issues.

“We are handing over this equipment to respond to challenges such as refuse collection and infrastructure maintenance. This will support our Technical Services team in delivering better services,” he said.

He urged staff to take responsibility for the new assets.

“Those who will operate these vehicles must take good care of them so that they serve our communities for many years,” Tseki said.

The municipality said the intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to restore consistent service delivery.
